   Web Site

Creating a personal web site is very easy, and is available to all
customers at any time. If you don't want to create a web site just
yet, don't worry, just come back to these directions whenever you
are ready.

1. If you do not already have personal web space setup go to members.ktis.net
and fill out and submit the form. Your webspace
should be setup within 1 business day.

2. Then follow these steps.

  • Using any FTP program, connect to members.ktis.net and log in with your username and password. Two widely used FTP programs are Cute FTP and WS FTP. Both can be downloaded from here.
  • You will automatically be in your user directory. From here, you will see a sub-directory called ''web" (without the quotes).
  • Upload your web pages and graphics and whatever else you need for your web site into the folder called web.
  • You have just created your own personal web site.
There are a couple of things that you need to keep in mind when creating your web site.
  • Personal web space is just that, personal. You are not allowed to use your web space for any commercial use. We will be monitoring this on a regular basis. If you would like to have a commercial web site, we can accommodate that also, but you will need to contact our Sales Department in order to receive that service.
  • You are limited to 5MB of space on our server. If you find that you need more space, again, we can work with you. Just call our Customer Service Department and they can help you.
  • Our server is setup to automatically recognize the file named "index.htm", "index.html", "home.htm", "home.html", "default.htm", and "default.html" in your personal directory, so it is best to name your home page (the one that you want people to see first) with one of those names. That way, visitors don't have to know the name of the html document they want to pull up, they will get one automatically. Also, only use one of these file names. For example, if you use "index.htm", do not use any of the other names listed here or you will not get the results that you anticipate.
  • The address to your newly created home page will be http://username.members.ktis.net (example: username=johndoe home page address = http://johndoe.members.ktis.net) If a visitor types in that address, they will be presented with whatever file you named index.htm, or index.html, or home.htm, home.html, default.htm, or default.html.
